With homework given daily, recent studies show that it does little towards academic progress. Do you agree? (Please read my comments first)

Recent studies have shown that giving children homework everyday shows no or very little improvement to their academic progress.  Instead it tends to take away from quality family time, outdoor play/fitness time and creates a negative attitude towards scholarly tasks. Yet parents insist that not enough homework is given to their child and they think that they therefore cannot be involved enough. Some schools are thus pressured due to policy or parental demands to overload students who then struggle to keep up with the requirements. What's your view on homework?

Children are already indoctrinated enough with schooling they do not need more formal education. They need parents to take responsibility and engage in conversation with them and teach them how to think and survive beyond school. Parents are always looking for someone to blame when they are lazy to contribute their part in their children's development. Homework should not be set by schools it should be for parents to discuss and enjoy with their children on real life experiences whether it be cooking or a trip to the shops or helping doing paperwork.
