Strategy is divided in to 2 one is Short term and the second is long term, in every business there will be a Strategic planning exercise for short term goals and long term goals. It is just like any weekly/monthly review where you learn and implement your actions to overcome challenges and meet market demand strategy also of similarly nature.
An organization looking out to develop strategy (short or long term) will establish basic requirements like Vision, Mission and values for the organization, Market segmentation, product positioning, pricing strategy, promotional and marketing strategy and then consumer insights gathering to learn and adapt to the expectations of the market.
So it begins as above and goes as per the business environment with slight/moderate changes in strategy depending upon the larger environmental changes in the business cycle.
