Well, I can assure you that if the service is bad everyone is going to know about it, that's for sure. The topic of the evening will be what lousy day it was because some inconsiderate customer service personnel gave you a hard time and ruined your day.
If excellent customer service is maintained, the customers might not spread the good news initially but when someone asks them for referrals, your company will definitely be recommended.
For good service most will just tell their closest friends or family but for bad service they will post it on Facebook or tweet it and potentially reach thousands especially if they name your company and it comes up on future web searches.
Normally when the customer is satisfied he tell some people but when he is not satisfied he tell to more people.
