Why corrective action is performed in Project Management Plan?

I am not sure if I got the question,

corrective action is applied when a failure or mistake happen so in order to eliminating root causes it might be necessary to perform some changes in project management plan.

Any action needed to bring future project performance in line with the project management plan is

called a corrective action. The three basic steps of Corrective Action:

• Identify the need to take corrective action

• Take corrective action

• Measure the result to determine if additional action is necessary
