Aviation part for example is a  airplane body for surface defect you can use Dye Penetrant, Eddy Current Testing, and Ultrasonic Test using shear wave testing.

Penetrant Testing With Flourescent method

Fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI) which nothing a Dry Penetrant inspection is more sensitive for surface defect detection but for detection of internal flaws, UT is much useful as it can detect very small discontinuity  .... but  It is fully depend upon type & metallurgy of spare part which is subjected for inspection.
