The Question is targeted to the management world to understand the opinions of Management personals during their professional move
Ethics: The rules of conduct recognized in respect to a particular class of human actions or a particular group, culture, etc. It defines how thing are according to the rules. A person strictly following Ethical Principles may not have any Morals at all. Likewise, one could violate Ethical Principles within a given system of rules in order to maintain Moral integrity. Ethics are dependent on others for definition. They tend to be consistent within a certain context, but can vary between contexts.
Morals:
Principles or habits with respect to right or wrong conduct. It defines how things should work according to an individual' ideals and principles. A Moral Person although perhaps bound by a higher covenant, may choose to follow a code of ethics as it would apply to a system. "Make it fit". Usually consistent, although can change if an individual’s beliefs change.
I believe Business Ethics is not widely considered in most organisation; even in strategie like CSR or go green, in my point of view it is just good business. Corporates are not engaged in social matter out of social commitment; it is just marketing issues. This can be seen in cases like Nike whose famos scandal regarding child labor in Africa.
I blieve Ethics and morals for corporations is only followed when there are rules obligating them to follow it or if there is financial outcome from its marketing.
Moral and ethics are followed in the business world as far as things are moving in positive directions. Under crisis, all ethical values and morals been kept aside and followed with unhealthy and mal practices to lure/cheat customers.
i believe ethics and morality are of increasing value now days.i have been certified as a CPPM by the american purchasing society, and during the test and follow up, ethical and moral conduct were of great importance and during their background check they have contacted all refrences i provided and the one question they asked all of them is the level of moral and ethical conduct.
ethical and moral standards are valued and carry a higher weight than experience in most cases especially in procurement and sales where payoffs are possible.
It is not easy to measure the ethical and moral level of corporate today. However, you can see the attitudes and perception of the corporate managers towards several issues to understand their views and opinions about specific issues such as corruption, environment, sustainability, CSR and any other ethics bearing issue. In addition, one can check also the practices of certain companies with regards of these issues. Moreover, there is also another perspective that can be used to check the ethical level, which is based on investigating and measuring and differentiating the corporate managers and employees according to several ethical philosophies. For instance, the managers who are adopting the idealism are more likely to behave ethically in controversial issues.
There is no forteress that money cannot take! Very unfortunatley this is a true fact with some exceptions. In the corporate world, the facade is always clean, very moral and ethical = of course the consumers and the consumers watchdogs are on the outlook and will bring down anyone daring to go against moral and ethical principles but behind the facade, anything goes......
CORPORATES THAT FOLLOW THE SCIENTIFIC MANAGEMENT CARE FOR MORALS & BUSINESS ETHICS.
A lot depends on the country where you are operating and the legal enforcement and structures in place.
