A good leader must have capability to be a team player and at the same time lead from the front. Its a mutual sense of trust and understanding between the leader and the team member.
Sometime our team member think that our Boss/Leader only give us Instruction/Target/Order but he himself can't do anything for us.
So being a leader we must convinced/Impressed that type of team member through the self performance , It'll really bridge a gap between Leader and the team member. After that we'd be a good leader and connect the team member with positivisty, Purposely, Empathy, Compassion, Humility and love.
Being a team player means putting the whole team before yourself. A good leader does that.
Not being at the front means you are not leading at all.

firstly lead + er mean u lead rest than other
secondly leading from front have loss and gain he should have potential to bear loss
thirdly every one cannot take responsibility which is big thing
In my opinion i will say he wants to know what his subordinates go through to be able to better manage them effectively
or He choses to assume he knows it all and don't try to get advice from anyone.
