There is a difference between training and learning. Learning is what you have not been exposed or not aware of in other words you get to know basics and new things like some one wants to be a mechanic so he has to learn the basics like instruments, parts functions etc while in training you develop competencies and expertise of those who have already worked or learned that field.
Training is very important in career development it enhances the competencies and skills.

Learning is a basic step of knowing about any thing.
When we become familiar about that specific thing, we educate about that thing to others. When we educate others, we will call Trainers and people who are being educated are called trainees. So, there is big difference between Training and Learning. Without Learning and becoming specilization, we cannot be Trainers.
Training is the giving of information and knowledge, through speech, the written word or other methods of demonstration in a manner that instructs the trainee. Learning is the process of absorbing that information in order to increase skills and abilities and make use of it under a variety of contexts. Whatever the goals, the quality of the learning will rely largely on the quality of the training, and so the role of trainer is very important as it can have a huge effect on the outcome of a course for the learner.

In training we get trained by the highly professional persons and boost our skills to give our best effort to the organization In learning we learn the new things which we does not know in the organization learning we will forever till death.
In any organisation I believe it is key to constantly develop your employees and by promoting personal development you are in essence allowing your employees to learn in their own right.
I believe training should be used to enhance that learning journey rather then being used as the only method to promote learning.
