If you are asking with server perspective Then go with Linux Operating Systems they are open source, free and reliable.
If you are asking with user perspective then go with windows7 . A very stable and user friendly Operating System.
Worked with Ubuntu, CentOS, Fedora and Windows. I prefer Linux distributions, it just feels like the user has much more control on what's happening on their machine. Not to mention that it's cheap and that from a developer's point of view, one can easily lookup the code and see how things are running behind the scenes.
windows XP in industry is the most stable till now. but for personal use windows7
WINDOWS7 INTERPRISE FOR THE BIG ORGANIZATION, AND THIS IS USER FRIENDLY..
Simplicity and software freedom under Linux Distros, can save a lot of budget against company needs, from small to large scale enterprise infrastructure.
Windows7 Ultimate is a smart one
ويندوز7 عملي جدا
لكن لينوكس أبونتو جميل و يستحق التجربة أيضا
Well there are several things to consider:
1. Server or Client
Server - Windows Server2008 onwards are good and Linux servers are always the best.
Client - Preferably Windows7 and Mac is also an option.
2. User acceptance
Windows - has more user acceptibility
Mac - is used regionally
Linux - is for geeks :)
3. Budgets
Windows & Mac are costly.
Linux are open source as well as low budget.
4. Support
All three OSs have good support but we have to look regionally.
5. Our own level of skills
6. Stability
Linux and Mac are more stable then windows.
7. System Resources
Windows require more resources while Linux and Mac are resource efficient.
8. Hardware and Software Compatibility
i. Windows
ii. Mac
iii. Linux
9. Security
Liniux and Mac more secure than Windows.
Though we can find alternative for software but not all of them
Under Linux many devices wrok but with a generic driver whic doesnt give ultimate performance.
A trade off exists between all three operating systems.
Although right now I am writing this from a Windows OS but I prefer Linux :)
Last in future choice of OS would be just user preference because most of the applications are now shifting on Cloud computing which will eliminate compatibility problems.
It will be like old times where terminals were used to be connected to a Mini Computer or Super Computers. Except that these new terminals would not be dumb.
I Love to work with ubuntu ,Simple reason is that opensource and user friendly operating system
It supports most of the developer environment
WIndows7.....It is ultimate.Windows7can support all type of softwares.Compare to other operating systems it is very easily than others.
