Multi-tasking is a smarter way of maximizing output, yes.
My answer is;
While loading the people with additional task, it is the duty of the controlling supervisor to monitor and see that the quality of work is not getting compromised. Common symptoms that indicate employee burn out is; delayed completion of assignment(s), shift of balance in his/ her behavioral attitude and lack of interest. If these signals are visible, it is time to re-look into the entire scheme of things all over again.
It is not easy to predict so, yet again, it would be workable with light industries and life style sector, but it could not workable with heavy industries. A sector-wise feasibility study has to be contacted before declaring any successful result.
