Method to test Materials and parts.

Testing the properties of materials used in machinery and structures to find possible faults like carcks, flaus, corrosion and other inperfections.

1) Visual inspection. 2) Radiographic testing 3) Ultrasonic testing 4) Magnetic particle testing 5) Thermal imaging 6) Dye testing 7) Eddy current testing 8) Resonant testing. is the scope of NDT.

It is highly recommended because it is the only tool you have to give an opinion judiciously about a possible failure.

Basically, NDT is an inspection or testing of base material and welded component or assembly by physical means, without affecting the ultimate serviceability of the material being tested. Thus, it can help increase production which brings more economical benefits to the manufacturer.

If you have knowledge or acquired mechanical engineering, it would help a lot in understanding the characteristics of various methods of NDT and their application to different industries such as oil & gas, construction, metal fabrication, power generation, aerospace and metal manufacturing, to name a few.

It is the most appropriate way to identify the internal defects of materials and welded joints without making any defects to the parent metals.

When I started working. It seems like NDT level2 have a wide area of requirements all through the mechanical field.

After mechanical  and after Metallurgy and Materials engineering it is better to do NDT because both know about faults of metals, alloys and polymers. So they identify and locate these faults by the help of NDT techniques and perform the corrective action. Scope of NDT is great. because it covers inspection of many feilds like internal and sub-surface cracks, defects in casting and Welding (magnetic or non-megnetic materials). As hardness measurement sometimes also known as NDT technique so in this way we can judge hardness of materials.

NDT Level II can Calibrate NDT equipent, write and interprete result, but not allowed to write Procedure as it is the responsibility of Level III to write procedures. Need to demonstrate sound knowledge of the job and maybe required to recertify after three years depending on the company policy.

as a NDT level Level 2 they can performe their job under the guidence of NDT Level III and employer supervision only.

VERY USEFUL AND MOST IMPORTANT TO REVIEW THE NDT REPORTS , ACCEPTANCE AND SEVIORITY OF THE DEFECT

To Detect/filter the defective products from the quality product NDT is utilised without damage the product

To check the components quality to the standard/specification usedether the body of the material or the welded joint.
