In my opinion pre-sales understands the problem while post-sales supports the odyssey of solution for the client. Where pre-sales ends, post-sales begins. So complete understanding of the expectations set by pre-sales team has to be transferred to post-sales team to enable them not to have gaps between expectations and reality.

Presales team is all about engaging with customer to know their core business challenges. They do all kinds of activities to understand their pain areas that needs to be addressed with the proposed solution. If required pre-sales team even goes once step ahead and does a proof-of-concept for the customer to show the proposed solution live customized for them. Once the customer is convinced than it is extremely important that one of the core member of this pre-sales team joins the post-sales team to perform the actual implementation.
