I think that, Social Media Marketers not only have to be good with people, but have to be good at listening to the needs of their consumers. Listening and monitoring is a big part of the social media role. Obviously you must have a great understanding of the main social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Bayt and Instagram. The primary social networks that a business uses differ according to their industry, target market and budget. However, when it comes to the analytics associated with social networks, social media marketers must have a basic understanding of math and a good eye for noticing patterns(say, when trying to discover the best type of post for Facebook, or best time of day to post). When it comes to writing, social media marketers have to know how to get an interesting or intriguing message out in as little as 140 characters. Succinct writing is an everyday task for a social media marketer. They also must be able to adapt to the tone of the brand they are representing.
totally agree with the 2 precious answers from ms/ghada and mr/vaiyapuri , but would like to add that in my opinion there is no cretain roles and specific steps to sucess as a social media marketer , i believe that the key word is " creativity " , as u deal with different kind of customers and try to get ur point from the shortest way , u have to be flexiable & creative , all other skills can be learned , but creativity is a talent ... thank u for the invitation
