Remember no customer likes to be sold, every customer likes to be empowered in buying something, it does not matter whether there is one product in the area or many your product will appeal to to a certain group of ppl as long as you did the research about the area or market. using law of averages and a great attitude and confidence will push your product. Also walking the customer through and explaining to the customer why your product is better then the rest using indifference will help.
