Do you think Human Resources Professionals still play a great role in this age, where almost every process has its own computerized system?

I think HR continues to play a huge role in this day and age because many business managers are not equipped with the necessary "human" skills to manage people effectively. HR often intervenes in situations such as, for example, a manager proceeding to ask for disciplinary action without having considered a progressive disciplinary process which is the fair route to tak for the employee concerned. In this case the ideal approach is to have a chat with the employee, see what can be done to improve his behavior or attitude and work towards a holistic plan for improvement with regular intervals of monitorting and tweaking of the plan as required. Disciplinary action comes into play only after all this has been considered and there is no appreciable improvement event after warnings have been issued. Having said that, I would like to see the future as one where managers have the necessarily skills and knowledge to manage their human resources in a fair and impartial manner without the involvement of HR as a third party.

Computers will never replace a sound human judgement. HR plays a big role in every company and mainly constitutes judgement, from hiring applicants and terminating employees, to employee relations, training program investments, which will require human interactions and reasoning, not to exclude emotions. I think the only thing that can be automated by a computer without any intervention coming from an HR executive are the payroll process/computations and leave/attendance applications/approval.
