There are basically two kind of projects that you can easily handle using AutoCAD:

1. Draftingin which you will be drawing the details of various projects and this is actually very important as any structures when to be constructed requires each and every detail for the ease of construction and this is only given using drafting
2. Modelling/Drawingin which you will be drawing machine parts and providing the details for factory production

There are plenty of benefits but I would mainly say it is simulating the real life situation into a soft computarized version of the situation.
