Neutral of Transformer is earthed for safety reasons & to provide quality potential (voltage) to consumer. By earthing we achieve  the voltage at the neutral point ideally as earth potential that will be used as reference voltage for all three Phases. Due to the imbalance loading, neutral reference will not vary. And earthed neutral ensure the equipment and supplied consumer safety in case of fault against the faulty currents. As the neutral as well as associated circuit may attain voltage of up-to several kilo-Volts by Electromagnetic interference in the events of lightning or even while switching on or off heavy (high current) electric loads. But earthed neutral protects against such surges.

Earthed neutral also establish reference point for the delta side of the transformer which does not have actual neutral point. It also provide low impedance path to the imbalance currents, fault current and drain them to ground.

There are many more benefits but those are all linked with the aforesaid points.

Neutral of transformer is earthed to fix the neutral point to earth potential. This will prevent over voltage in the line during fault condition.
