As an estimator, what are the steps you do when you start to estimate a project?

Study the plan. Know the price / amount of all the materials beginning with the Hardware, Electrical, Mechanical and Lumber if necessary Determine the labor cost and equipment for hire to include professional fees, Prepare contingency plan, Summary of estimate.

I presume this are the things you do: 1.) Read and study the Plan, 2.) Get your pen n paper, 3.) Your calculating machine, 4.) Survey and take note of the amount/ prices of all materials in the hardware company which are those in the plan, 5.) Be sure you have mastered all geometric figures.
