the PMP certification helps you gain a competitive edge. If you’re a PMP, you will be separated from the rest who don’t possess it, because this certification shows that you have a standard knowledge set and skills which others may not possess.
Moreover, if you go through any famous job portal and search jobs for “Project Manager” or “Project Engineer”, you will notice that many postings have a mandatory requirement for PMP certifications, and some others have recommended this certification.
In processing of getting the PMP certification you attend a training program, study well-structured content, and go through the PMBOK Guide which is developed by industry experts. It will align your knowledge with the standard international practices, and all your knowledge gaps will be filled.
So, you are equipped with the best industry standard know-how to manage the project; hence, now you know about your next step, and therefore you’ll never be clueless and will perform better.
I have seen some surveys in which it was mentioned that PMP certified professionals get 10% to 20% higher salaries than non-PMP certified professionals with similar qualifications and experience. Therefore, you may also enjoy a pay raise if you get this certification.
To get this certification you have passed through a rigorous process, so of course this certification establishes your credibility as a high-level professional because you have demonstrated the required level of education, experience and competency to lead and direct the project within standard established guidelines.
The PMP certification is a globally recognized certification, and is endorsed by many large organizations throughout the world. Your skills will not be questioned, and clients will trust your ability to handle complex projects.
All PMP certification holders have to abide by a certain industry accepted code of ethics and professional conduct. Employers are aware of this, and they know that you wouldn’t do any unethical act, will work with honesty, and your behavior will be truthful.
There are immense benefits of the PMP certification. The most important benefit is that it gives you self-confidence, fills your knowledge gaps, and equips you with a global standard. You will be recognized everywhere and no one will doubt your abilities in dealing with complex situations.

It shows your knowledge in that area. But in my non humble opionion, such exams as PMP is just a new way of making money. Project management, it is ability and skill which is gained through practice. It is not about reading books and then passing exam.
