create a network in R1 which is behind only R1 and let this network be advertised to all other routers. when you disconnect the router/switch which is behind R1, then the EIGRP process will start activley looking for the route to this network and sends query packets to all connected routers and will never hear back about the route, by this way SIA can be simulated
