conservative methods are reseved for women who are unfit or unwelling to undergo surgery , pessaries are the first line therapy ( may be used as diagnostic tool also) .

pessaries are either supportive like Ring pessaries effective in first and second degree prolapse, or space filling pessaries like the Gillhorn pessary  effective in moderate to severe prolapse.

complications for using pessaries include vaginal bleeding , discharge, atrophy, ulceration and pelvic pain.

second line therapy is the pelvic floar muscle excercise(kegel excercises) offered mainly to asymptomatic or mildly asymptomatic women and has a minimal risk and low cost , it includs regular muscle strength trainig excercises to build a muscle volume to support pelvic organs and another exercise aims to train patients to contract their pelvic muscle on increasing abdominal pressure to prevent pelvic organ prolapse.
