What is the best thing to do if my personal computer catches a virus? Should I try to fix it, or should I let a specialist handle it?

If you have the knowledge and the tool do it by yourself, otherwise take your pc to the specialist !

You can fix it by yourself, just use the tools such as antiviruses.

If you have good knowledge and background on viruses you can repair your computer by installing good antivirus like Kaspersky and make full scan to your computer then the antivirus will discover the viruses and delete it , but if you don't have required background then tou may ask a specialized person to repair your computer .

i have to try to fix it and scan my computer again to be sure,,if the problem not solved and the computer become slow than we chould format it.

try to fix it ;with antivirus and anty spayware  or antymalaware

If you already have antivirus program installed in your computer you can just do it by urself. however if you are having hard time to  fix it you can call your IT specialist to assist you.
