Companies can't neglect neither one nor the other : the phase product mix is essential before the launch of the item to garantee the success of the product. One time, the product is launched the company should consider product assortment : width, lengh, depht.. and it should be noted that your part in the rays of the shops should follows your real market share : for exemple if your market share is 40%, you should negociate not less than 40% of the assortiment in the shops.
