What is HR Strategy?

This is considered in simple terms 'Staffing' It is putting a policy in place for the following areas: Recruitement - How do you recruite the best employees? Retain - How do we keep the best employees? Termination - How do terminate poor employees? - How do we 'learn from' good employees leaving? Recruitement activities include: How do we perform interviews? (standardized/subjective) Where do we post? (Ask current employees, job boards, headhunter, etc) What criteria do we establish? (random drug screens, personality tests, etc) Another Variation HR Strategy is aligning the goals of HR to the goals or strategy of your organisation. recruitment, retention and termination are a small part of it. In developing a strategy two critical questions must be addressed. What kinds of people do you need to manage and run your business to meet your strategic business objectives? What people programs and initiatives must be designed and implemented to attract, develop and retain staff to compete effectively?

Organizations must firstly clearly differentiate between routine / transactional HR work (for example, payroll, attendance, tax issues, general works, basic recruitment work, etc.) and strategic HR work - succession planning, leadership development, future planning, competency mapping and follow ups, etc. I believe, in the future, all transactional HR work will get outsourced and only developmental HR people will be able to sustain.

Human resource is a department within a company whose responsibilities include searching for employees and training them, helping with conflict resolution, and organizing and helping with benefits. In other words, the HR department works with employees, their issues and their needs.

So, human resource strategy is completing all of the responsibilities listed above, only this time those responsibilities are completed with the overall goals, mission, and future aspirations of the company. It is the act of being proactive so that employees have the necessary tools and attitudes to align with the direction the company is moving in.

HR strategy is a part of the overall organisational strategy. It represents the way in which an organisation plans to gain competitive advantage through the efficient and cost-effective use of their human resources. This involves devising initiatives to make sure the organisation is able to attract and retain the best talent, develop it and make the most of it to gain advantage over competitors and achieve organisational goals. The strategy also helps the organisation to be reactive and adaptable to changes in the external environment, by nurturing a flexible culture internally. It's all about making sure the organisation has the right people, with the right skills, at the right time.
