It depends on your level. But, you can help yourself by watching movies and English documentaries, try to listen and to read what are you listening to...
I wish you were more specific on how short is the period of time in which you need to improve your English speaking skills and what your level of English is. Nevertheless, I recommend the following: watch a lot of English speaking films, TV programs and shows, documentaries; listen to English songs; speak English with your kids, friends, family relatives, co-workers, neighbors, classmates, ( if you have to, speak English all by yourself, for example, deliver a speech , read bedtime stories for your little ones) the most important thing is to keep speaking English all the time and I mean it when I say all the time, keep doing it for as long as you find it necessary. Good Luck !
In addition to the wonderful answers above, I would add, chat and chat and chat, even to yourself .
I would suggest, amongst other things, listening to the World Service of the BBC, it is delivered very much in the "Queen's" English. Being a native English speaker myself I find this to be the "best" spoken English that I have heard.
It is known that the first skill in learing English is listening ,for you as a teacher begin to listen to tape script carefully it will be a begining cause you will practise that in class so it will not be forgotten easily , you can also listen and repeat in TOEFL tapes for teaching English or any other teaching programs , listen and repeat and after that move to the general like following English news in some specific channels like CNN to get the correct pronounciation , try to concentrate and repeat but with a heared voice not to forget it .
thanks a lot.
Working in a BPO serving customers in US I think I will be able to answer your question. Watch CNN for American accent or global accent. Watch BBC for British accent. In our profession after training we put new learners on the phone interacting with Americans. We walk around them for any help. To some extent it is an emotional issue with the fear factor more important than the skill factor. But after you interact with them for a few days you gain confidence and life is a lot easier. My advice is to speak slowly in the beginning. Also be aware of certain American terms. Some one hit the bucket means some one has died. Ball park figure means an proximate figure.
try to watch english movies, talk shows or even better comedy shows maybe your favorite comedy show.....you will have fun and pick up necessary phraces and expressons....see it is a win win situation and the recent researches proved that visual means could educate/teach you better more than usual stuff like books only not to mention that they shake off the boring effect or loosing concentration of just reading a book....beside laughing will boost up you immune system and focusing.
goodluck.
