What is dns? and what is the difference forward lookup zone and reverse lookup zone?

forward look up zone is used to convert the human meaningful name (domain name) which is in easy to understand format to computer meaningful name (IP address), however reverse lookup zone works in reverse way to convert IP address to domain name.

The Domain Name System (aka DNS) is used to resolve human-readable hostnames like www.Dyn.com into machine-readable IP addresses like 204.13.248.115.

Forward lookup zone is to convert from domain name to IP addresses and Reverse lookup zone is to convert from IP addresses to domain name.

Domain naming server is doing conversion of Ip address to FQDN and FQND to ip address. If we convert IP to FQDN it is called Forward lookup zone. If we convert FQDN to ip address is called reverse lookup zone

Forward Lookup resolves domain name  to IP address , but reverse lookup resolves IP address  to domain name..
