In a retail outlet, which do you promote first, your best sellers or your worst sellers?

The primary motive of Promotion is to increase the foot fall in the store. To achieve this, the best sellers should be trusted to attract the large diaspora of the final consumer. Once the store traffic is increased, the merchandise mix and the floor navigation should be such that the worst sellers are displayed with as equal chutzpah as your best sellers to ensure cross sectional sales.

I would Promote the best seller first as a sales strategy with worst sellers display as merchandising strategy.

I would promote them side by side...as in,promote the best sellers first and in between promote the worst sellers by cross promoting or have a Red Dot Sale where both the sellers...best and the worst sellers would sell together.The reason is we wouldn't want merchandise to AGE in the period of time and in this case...THE WORST SELLERS.

Hilight slow moving items in the store and complement it with fast moving items. This will give balance and allows customer to mix and match the goods. Proper promotions is a must specially during the weeked for the slow moving items since most buyers purchase during weekends.
