Interesting conversation on this very topic in the office last week.

To date their PR response has been great, and the comical media followup has also been an interesting read.

The conclusion to the conversation was to follow the same path other brands have taken following recalls.

a) Let the fire burn out (don't introduce anything as a version 2.0 to the product in question; Samsung tried and failed in that regard)

b) Address the problem with a complete workaround to the device and enter the market with a "new" line of product with an alternative name such as, "Saturn Scribe!"etc etc

c) they already have market leading technology in their devices, so this exercise is likely to be more focused on the PR side of things, to rebuild confidence in their flagship devices.

plenty of other factors need to be taken into account to ensure that for each geographical region they are building confidence accordingly.

Interesting. The media will definitely have a party until the thing dies out. But in this case Samsung killed the Note 7, a first for them. Wonder what they will introduce next, Note 7Plus? We'll have to wait and see.
