If you want to publish your first book but you don't have the budget, would you use free online publishing websites?

I can start writing an e-book and then move on to becoming an indie author.

I personally wouldn't because "free" things have a limitation that would not make your ebook work. Most "freeware" items today are either scam to back you into a corner so you have no choice but to pay. I have seen some software that give viruses, spyware and malware. So it is not recommended.
