PPM means “Professional Project Management” it run on Windows can also be deployed with multiple users in a centralized database accessed via your network or via a hosting solution, it is favored for deep work as a tool to build, schedule and track complex project schedules due to that’s more faster because I’s already installed on the PC & easier to use and can easily handle large project schedules of up to 100,000 activities.
EPPM mean “Enterprise Project Portfolio Management” it runs on web and so you can access and update your P6 project data on mobile apps with EPPM, speed is depend on Internet connection, Same functions in PPM is available additional to graphs, charts, pivot tables and dashboards, so you can dive deep into your data for manage groups of projects together in a portfolio on one or more dashboard which make him favored in the presentation of the data analysis than PPM.
For my work institution we use the both and they are connected by each other’s, so I can log in the projects using any of them, and the usage is depend on the required function needed.
1- Is PPM a subset of EPPM? Not really. EPPM contains P6 web and P6 (option) client. PPM is P6 client only.
In other words, if I buy EPPM I can do EVERYTHING that PPM does, and more? Almost everything, but Tool --> Job services--> Export and Batch Report will not available
If I have EPPM, can I still do the good old windows, desktop based schedule making like in PPM? Yes, you can still using P6 client to do scheduling. Or because it is EPPM, everything, inlcuding making the schedule itself is web based? P6 Web also can do F9 Scheduling
2-Is EPPM looking and functioning exactly the same as PPM and more? I mean if desktop operation is possible for EPPM, does it look the same as PPM and only when I go to web it has mote things? in other words, can EPPM be operated offline on desktop and in ecatly the same way as PPM?EPPM can be operate offline on the desktop, but not exactly same ways as PPM. i.e Admin menu will move to P6 web, Job service will be created in P6 web only...
3-i read somewhere that EPPM doesnt have network diagrams, is it true? what else it doesnt have? Activity Diagrams is there, Login to P6 web, Project---> Activity --> View --> Activity Network
In summary, P6 EPPM (P6 web +P6 optional client) almost have everything that P6 PPM has. You should take note that after you install P6 EPPM, you don't have some Enterprise Menus (i.e Admin menu, EPS) and Job service menu in p6 client as it has been moved to P6 web.
