Imagine that your team had already met to negotiate how to approach the project and afterwards you were left confused. You already tried asking questions to relieve your confusion but the answers you were given were vague and just as confusing. What do you do?
In general I think we need to communicate in a way that our audience can understand the message that we want to communicate. However, if we are not clear about communication than I would always recommend to ask and clarify our understanding. It is good to talk and engage with colleagues and it is dangerous to make assumptions without understanding the facts.
It would be demoralising but I'ld always make sure to attend all meetings, be more attentive to capture as much as I can even if by just observing, do more private research on the task from the internet, books and from friends. It might give me more knowledge and should the time come that my team needs help I might have the right answer and they might start taking me more seriously and include me more in the communication cycle.
identify the problem is the communication or conceptual understanding.
Discuss with the project leader and clarify the situation. Either replace the team member or to have a clear communication to understand the vision and goal to achieve success in a specific project
Unfortunately there is no chance to succeed if you do not understand the requirements. You will have no other chance then to go back for clarification.
I always suggest doing this in writting (email) since it might be helpful to maybe look up some work flow or even only words for clarification on your own again.
Please remember, there is no problem asking questions, but there is a problem when you don't deliver and must admit after all you havent understood what needs to be done.
In such case I have to interview individuals to clarify the confusion and repeating the answers till get the concent that it is OK and perfect understanding. Training practice called (one to one) is the best solution.
call a meeting among you member in order to share a comon language, so that you can easily get what your colleagues say
Effective communication is one of the keys towards achieving your goal and towards the success of your project. If the members fail to communicate well then there might be lapses within the team that makes other members to hesitate to effectively communicate.
In this case, gather all the members of the teams and lay all the concerns and the things that should be changed in oneself. Explain what is going to happen if everyone doesn't know how to communicate well. Make everyone understand the value of effective communication for the success of the group and most especially, carry the conversation light and in a professional way. :)
