CISCO OS is only for managing routers and switches, mostly any person who uses Cisco devices need to have a knowledge of how Cisco OS works and it is only of Networking purposes.

However, Microsoft server is a much bigger idea, you can manage domains and create active directory domain services, you can create servers like file servers, DHCP, DNS.

So both OS are very different than each other and each one has its own specialty

well cisco is a software vendor that specialized in the development of  the OS Network devices such as: routers, switches, firewalls,IPS and IDS. while Microsoft is specialized in Servers OS, it also better know in the office environment software such as MS office or sharepoint.

the person who seeks Cisco is more likely becomes Network specialist than System Administrators and Vice versa in Microsoft because here u deal with the Domain, Active Directory...etc.

Hi,

CISCO Track

Cisco is a company which is mainly deals with Networking, manufactures Switches & Routers.

- To work with Routers & switches, you need networking, routing, switching, knowledge.

- There were many CISCO tracks. But the basic is Routing & Switching (R & S). After getting knowledge on R & S, you can change your path based on your interest like VOICE, SECURITY.

- CISCO certifications include CCNA (R & S), CCNP (R & S), CCIE (R & S). Similary for voice, security...etc

WINDOWS SERVER

- Microsoft product. It's SERVER Operating system. [Ex: Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008, 2008 R2, Windows Server 2003...etc]. CLIENT OS [Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, XP]

- It's similar to Client OS, whereas SERVER OS provides Service & make full use of the hardware & more powerful than Client OS. (Installation & Configurations R similar)

- Server OS (with ACTIVE DIRECTORY) used for central management & monitoring of the Server, Desktop, Cloud infrastructure  in the company

- Certifications include -> To get MCSA (need to get 3 certifications) + 2 Certifications = MCSE

CISCO  tracks            -  NETWORK Administration

WINDOWS SERVER -  SYSTEM Administration (WINDOWS)

Dear Fatah,

Cisco is related to networks which include routing and switching that deploys Cisco devices including switches, routers, firewalls. Cisco offers different tracks, some common tracks are CCNA, CCNP and CCIE. Having completed one or all of these tracks is a certificate that you are a Cisco networks professional depending on the level of your certifications. Where Microsoft offers different tracks too but they are Operating systems based. You can google MCSE and see the tracks offered by Microsoft.

In the end these both certifications have nothing in common and are totally for different purposes. If you are looking for a system administration job I will suggest you to take CCNA and MCSE track.

Feel free to ask anytime!
