First of all let us define System Anlyst , he is the the expert who is dealing and taking care of IT system of any organisation He acts as a laisoning personnel between internal systems and external agencies or clients.His responsibilities may be summarised as below
1. examine existing IT systems and business models;
2. analyse systems requirements
3. undertake product development
4 implement, configure and test feasible solutions
Following are the essential criterias to fill the vacancy of the system analyst
a) Qualification - The System Analyst must have a degree or diploma in information technology and business management. He need not be a graduate or IT expert What is required is the technical knowledge of IT and the business process or business managment . Following degree subject are relevant
a) business management
b) Computer Progarmmig
c) Business information systems
d) science based subjects
e) Information Systems
Skills - The System Analyst needs to have following skills to be a successful analyst
a) Good knowledge about computer hardware & softawre
b) Ability to learn quickly
c) Logical approch to problem solving
d) Business awareness
e) Team leader
f) good oral & written communication
g) Planning & negotiating skill
Apart from he should have foloowing technical skills
a) SQL
b) Web based solutions
c) SAP /Oracle ERP modules
d) Visual basics , C+ Java
Experience - This is the most important requirement to became a successful system analyst The system anlalyst must have worked in different business areas like manufacturing, service sector , Information Technolgy companies , Management Consulting firms which will help him to gain understand the different business processes, flow of business activities and the organisational objectives . He must have handled at least 4-5 projects right from inception, study , design, development , modification and final implemenation of systems in the project . Further , he should acquired the necessary domain knowledge in business management , IT, Finance & Accounts , Inventory , costing etc.
Therefore , the criterias for fillling vacancy of system analyst is not only limited to the qualification, skill , experience but also he should have other traits like ablity to work & deliver in time , patience and good attitude etc.
