Hello.

With varying perspectives and experiences, it can be difficult to build good relationships within a team. Having led my fair share of teams, utilizing the tips below proved very successful:

Develop People Skills

Good relationships start with good people skills. Find an online tool that will allow everyone to score their "soft skills" such as collaboration, communication and conflict resolution. This self-evaluation will point you to tools that will help you deal with any weaknesses team members may have.

Schedule Time to Build Relationships

Have your team devote a portion of their day toward relationship building, even if it's just 20 minutes, perhaps broken up into five-minute segments.

Focus on EI

Spend time developing your team's emotional intelligence (EI). Among other things, this will allow you and your team to individual emotions and those of their teammates.

Appreciate Others

Encourage your team to show their appreciation whenever they receive assistance from a teammate. If the team falls under you, then you set the standard.  Genuinely compliment the people around you when they do something well. This will open the door to great work relationships.

Avoid Gossiping

One of the most sure fire ways of causing dissent amongst a group is gossip.  If you're experiencing conflict within your group, talk to the individuals directly about the problem. Gossiping about the situation with other colleagues will only exacerbate the situation, and will cause mistrust and animosity within the team.
