It actually varies between person. Some may learn backend faster, and vice versa. From my personal standpoint, frontend should be more friendly for beginners.

Frontend development

is the presentation Layer, the part that users interact with. Everything that you see when you are navigating around the Internet, from fonts and colors to dropdown menus and sliders, html, css, and java script.

Backend Development

The Data Access Layer, consists of a server, and application, and a database. A back-end developer builds and maintains the technology that powers those components which, together, enable the user facing side of the website to even exist in the first place.

Interesting question ! Actually it's depends on the scenario and the tasks which are assigned.    Back-end development contain all the business logic which is required to complete a task in a functional manner . Business logic contains anything like connect to any other application by web services or RPC and make the data available for building the business logic. In this scenario we can say that it usually more complex than front end development. However , sometimes simple data manipulation is required to complete the functionality like CURD operations and it is comparably easy task.    Front end is usually easy as simple requirement is to design screen and put some client validations. Nevertheless , if UI is being built on some framework and all validation relies on the client side level then it could become a bit tough.

It is easier for deployment if the design is clear and complete. however, backend applications and services are more difficult to test.
