That's a good question. I often try my luck with the lottery, but I've never thought about where to invest if I win a big amount. After studying the site https://lttry.com/play/pick-2-lttry I am now trying to calculate every move to hit the jackpot.

For instance if I'm in Dubai and have moderate risk profile, I'll invest in real estate.

I’d first pay off my debts.

I’d treat my family to a great holiday somewhere.

My partner, too (different vacation). The first place we’d go would be the island Sao Tomé, which we saw in a documentary, and are really curious about.

I’d give my van a good repair and paint job. I’d buy a hybrid car, nothing flashy, but comfy and with good speakers.

I would invest in my property: renovation of the barn, an up to date electrical installation, new roof and isolation, sky lights, solar panels, new kitchen, landscaping of the garden, good fencing, beautiful plants and trees.

I would invest in my business: renovate the workshop, buy new machines and tools. Buy a forklift. Hire an administration / accounting person to do the paperwork I dislike doing but needs to be done.

I would buy a really good sound system to listen to music.

I’d set a decent percentage of the money aside in a safe long term investment to assure a nice retirement in 20 years from now.

I’d buy one of those abandoned villages with land, orchards, forests and water supply close to Barcelona.

I’d get basic services established there: water, electricity, sewage, telephone, roofing, road repair, foundations, heating.

First of all I'll be on cloud nine if that happens. Now coming the question, the answer depends upon the options available & my risk profile.

For instance if I'm in Dubai and have moderate risk profile, I'll invest in real estate.

If I'm in Hong Kong I'll have more options, I would prefer both Equity & Real Estate.

If I'm in an emerging market then all most each asset class have can deliver excellent results (of course the balance needs to analyzed between expectations & ground reality).

Hope this helps.
