I would like to take the example of UAE. Dubai has become the Singapore of the west , mid-east and south Asian region. The standard of living is comparable to the best in the world. No one has heard of any strike or lockout here. And I think the main resource of Dubai is not crude oil but human resource. Thousands of unemployed people from India , Pakistan &Bangladesh , Africa and less prosperous regions of Arabia have made it big in Dubai. They have succeeded financially and other wise to a level that was unthinkable in their own countries. Certainly HR has a role in this success story.
