"Backbiting and hatred" are the common problems which make a bad working environment, What measures should be taken to avoid them among employees?

Islam is a religion of peace, love and compassion. Lies, suspicion, back biting, slander and gossip are totally alien to Islam. In fact they are considered amongst the most destructive of major sins. This is so because these sins sow enmity and discord among the Muslim Ummah and lead to its destruction. They cause hostilities between people of the same household, and between neighbors, friends and relatives.

To stop backbiting( if there is this problem), I would like suggest following strategy:

  • Have weekly meeting with all employees.
  • Stress the point how backbiting would hamper their official performance and personal life
  • Stress the point of collaboration, coordination, good relationship and how it will improve their official performance and future career.
  • In case of extreme backbiting attitude of two employees, the departmental manager and  the HR manager shall sit with the employees and resolve/minimize the issue

I think one should work on the minds of the employee that groom your mind like that every body should get responsibility from his own side and did not get involve in the others without any need.

Every problem may require a different solution thus backbiting may call for a solution different from that of hatred. (1) backbiting- enacting strict or stringent laws & corresponding penalties or punishmenta against such habits and sensitizing the employees about the danger & impact of this problem. (2) hatred- this is problem critical & delicate to persue because it involves psychological related issues which may even never be eliminated at all. Here the mgt should strive to change the mindsets of employees through mentoring & tutoring them about the impact & diverse effects of hatred both at personal & business level. The mgt can also use counseling sessions & experts or pyschologists/ therapists as a tool to neutraize or eliminate this problem. Thanx for the invitation
