Social media activities won't enhance customer equity if the activities are neither demographically segmented to meet the needs of those customers. However, when it comes brand reputation management and if and when done professionally and honestly, it can increase customer equity.

Customer Equity refers to the customer's lifetime value/revenue. marketing activities on any digital or traditional platforms that results in revenue generation will add to the customer equity.

Therefore if your customers are on social media and as a result of your social media campaign revenue/ sale has been generated then its a good platform for you.  One should also consider the cost of customer acquisition and generally CAC on social media platforms are low compared to traditional marketing platforms.
