Does a business analyst need to be technology dependent?

He is not meant to be a Technology dependent. A Business Analyst should be aware of the Technology in order for selecting the right Technology for the Specific Business aspect. Business and Technology is directly proportional to each other. If the Business Operations enable a right or suitable Technology then the Business flexibility is Productive. If not, it will be Unproductive. To justify this question, A Business Analyst must aware of the Technology for judging the right Technology for any Business.

BA is not necessarily related to technology .. the system in an enterprise for instance could be the best , yet how tasks are handled and the process itself , could not be the most effective one ... and here BA could be introduced without any technology related tasks...i remember i helped with the clearing cycle of foreign currency checks in the bank i work in using the same system screens that were already available for local currency clearing checks cycle.. so my work didnt include any automation of any kind . BA does not need to be technology dependent because he makes requirement gathering and analysis of a specific system regardless  of technology being used later  when start  implementing it. There is one case that could make BA relies on technology when there is an imposed constraint to use a specific technology before starting BA activities.  

Not fully but some how he should be command on because it is demanded now a days
