Firstly, remain calm and controoled. Address the class and engage them in drawing up a code of conduct. Allow the learners to partici[pate and add suggestions. Get all learners to agree and hold them accountable for their actions. Implement the disciplinary procedure based on what is reasonable and agreed upon between the learner and educator.
It is a difficult real-life situation to which learning theorists have paid little attention. Maybe you can approach the student outside the class and in a cool manner find out the reasons why s/he behaves as s/he does. Human behaviour reflects their inner struggle, their living environment at home and the difficulties of their growing up. Unruly and arrogant students generally come from a disturbed home and they pour out their frustrations in the class, or, they may have a repressive home situation where they are not allowed to freely express themselves, so, they find the class the only place to express themselves. Thus, it is better to find out the reasons behind such a behaviour, try to offer solutions at a personal level (classroom is always an impersonal space), and I hope you will have a good student afterwards.
