Gift in exchange of favor at any kind is a bribe and cannot be accepted at all.  But if it is a gift out of gratitude.. then who am I to judge.

Well, first thing is to see how practical and common it is, Where trainees gift anything to trainer.

Most of the companies having defined rules and regulations for acceptance of gift and gifting something.

One should abide with that (trainer or trainees).

I do not see any issue for trainer in accepting gift from trainees if it more of memorial rather than valuable.

This is more of a principles matter. For me it's a A BIG NO, Not just as a trainer even as a HR i do not accept  and encourage any type of gifts in KIND/CASH.

If it is a small memento or token of remembrance, I believe it's OK. Else, it's not!

There is no issue in taking gifts if you are sure it will not effect you while evaluating trainees. so everyone is his own judge in this matter.
