Name the departments in any office, where employees work can be exchanged with other employees in order to make employees expertise in all round work?

We had project managers coming from the University ... they had no clue what they really needed to do other than the typical textbook scenarios they were given ... they needed to be retraining for the specific job ..

It would have them work in customer service/sales, finance/accounting department, why the production process takes a certain amount of time; not to forget purchasing, shipping and receiving.... and last but not least what the workers on the  production floor do and to appreciate these people's work (time and effort which needs to take place in order to make changes on a product)...

Needless to say our company just cross trained people in their departments, which had to correct any mistakes of the new project managers.

Most cross trained people are not like a horse with shutters going to see just one direction... and may have the need to see the entire project not just a part of it .

Well, it can be easily happens in customer care , sales and marketing department although it can happens in any department depending upon individual  educational qualification and expertise level.

Ideas for embracing diversity in the workplace

 

 

  • Learn about the cultural backgrounds, lives and interests of employees outside of the workplace. Building relationships through increased understanding and trust helps to foster inclusion
  • Include opportunities for staff to interact in settings outside of work so that employees feel more comfortable. Be creative, flexible and look for new ways of doing things 
  • Ensure all employees have the opportunity to take part in decision-making and planning for social activities
  • Organize collective meals where employees can learn about one another's cultures by sharing food
  • Be aware of, and provide time off for, culturally significant events and holy days. Consider offering a float day for employees to use at their discretion to observe such events or days
  • Recognize and acknowledge special days and events such as International Day of Persons with Disabilities (Dec3), International Day to End Racism, Gay Pride celebrations, etc.
  • Create Intranet-based multicultural calendars to avoid scheduling important meetings on major cultural holidays
  • Permit flexible schedules so that employees who observe religious practices can arrange their schedules around their beliefs
  • Acknowledge all faiths present in your workplace
