Hi Sabina. First - let's understand that SM is NOT a one-size-fits-all operation. Not every platform is made for your product. Yes, it's easy (and more expensive) to cast your net wide and cover everything under the sun, but then you would be doing exactly what SM pundits opine was wrong with traditional media: 'It lacked accuracy and direction and made you throw your stuff around with the hope that some of it would stick.' My take: Like any other 'traditional' marketing module, SM too can be made to work optimally if marketers would do a better job of matching product relevance to a specific platform + the tools available therein to target your market more accurately. Assuming that you are involved in media selection & buying, I would strongly recommend following a candid assessment of your product/service that I call 'SM Pre-screening' and then spend a little quality time on the various platforms thriving within your specific geo-net to build a match. How does this work? The progression chart you would create will cover the following: Product/service > Potential audience > Vehicle selection. Hope this helps.
I agree with Sunny here. One size doesn't fit all. Every brand has its own target audience.
Each product and the target audiences will determine which social media platform is good for you. This is usually achieved by developing a marketing strategy
If we talk about organically, It really depends on the company's industry. Every social media has its own demographics and interests. -For example, Instagram may be a good traffic source for fashion/jewellery companies or food chains, but might be a terrible decision for insurance companies. If we talk about paid traffic, Facebook retargeting ads are working great as you only show your ads to people who already knows your company, as they have visited your site. The good thing about said ads is that you can segment the audience at any level of your funnel. -For example: Show the ads to people who has visited a specific product page, or people who has purchased a product and haven't visited the site in the last 30 days.Anyway, every company should test and analyze what is best for them.
