My advice and recommendations
As a team Leader and Manager, We have to lead from the front.
Do not get panic, stay calm and take the new team members in positive way.
Give time and space to new members.
Let them feel comfortable.
Ensure training, coaching and feedback of new members.
Take out some informal time along with old and new members. E.g. Take them to dinner, take them on outing.
Ensure people jelled within the team.
Do not let loose, remain systematic and disciplined.
Assign mentor to new team members amongst old one.
Actually, we have to make well defined plan for a defined period, keeping above points in view.
Reviewing and taking corrective action against that plan is critical.
A new team is built progressively, by providing a proactive, in depth, in house training & development. This has to be provided by a team of top Management, supervised by the Organisational Head. The training & development can be carried out;
1. Departmental Training in a class room for an hour every day., for one week. Repeated every quarterly.
2. Departmental daily progressive meetings - for 1 hour every day.
3. Inter-departmental meetings - once / twice every week.
By these methods one can successfully integrate the new team members, let each one understand their individual responsibilities along with those of their colleagues in the other departments. They will also get to understand each other's dependency in the overall functioning of the organisation. They will also understand the organisational values and targets and how much they contribute to it's success.
Lead the new team from front, advise them about the new challenges and also opportunities, elaborate on every individual's strength and brief them how his / her strength can be useful to the progress of the organisation. Assure them that as a leader we are always there to support, guide the new team and brief them about the importance of team succeeding instead of individual excelling.
Be open, share goals, communicate openly with the team, be close to them, lead by example, engage them and above all respect and trust.
Thanks for the invitation:
I think Mr. Asif has already given the points here, and I would like to share some more of my views.
In order to build a Good Team once again, one should also need to get the CONFIDENCE of the team members. Its like winning their hearts of them and let them know that you are actually here for the growth of them and who respect take cares of theirs ideas thoughts feelings from every corner.
RESPECT, WINNING CONFIDENCE, MOTIVATION are the key basic things required every where and any where especially in building GOOD NEW TEAM.
Thanks,
Hope you will appreciate my answer.
Understand the new requirements of business and provide additional knowledge and information to the team members, conduct small training sessions and monitor the progress.
