You are asking effective and that means that you only can be effective if your tool answers the need of the trainee. Practical people have more added value with practical exercises like cases, role-plays or gaming tools. Theoretical focused people like more classes, presentations, demonstrations, and written case material. If you don't have the time or possibility to find out what training tool is mots effective for your students you should vary in your training the different tools and observe who responds back to what!

These are the few I came across in my experience; Basing on the team size/audience we can choose them for more effectiveness;

  1. Instructor-led training
  2. Blackboard or whiteboard
  3. Use of overhead projectors
  4. PowerPoint presentations
  5. Video training
  6. Storytelling
  7. Individual & Group Tasks

There are no trends in terms of training in a class room.  Trainers may vary their skills into simulating activities which may appeal to the group however, the time tested tool that has always worked and will work will be to let them be involved on doing manual tasks (if its a task training) and / or letting them heavily participate if the session is non-task or theoretical in nature

Effectiveness of any learning method is subjective to the type of audience.  There are several types of learners, among kids, young adults and adults.  The preference of learning and acquiring knowledge among these different types dictate effectiveness of any particular tool or learning method.  Therefore, in classroom training, it is up to the program manager and the trainer to find out which will be the most effective tool.  The only way to find out the most appropriate mix of training tools is to conduct a pre-session assessment of the participants through a behavioral/psychometric assessment.  Once the results are gauged, then the training materials and tools can be developed.

By experience, among adult learners, I find one of the most effective tool is Role-Play or Scenario Simulation.  Although its effectiveness is relatively limited on the aspect of knowledge retention and concept assimilation.  In terms of instruction and delivery, senses stimulatory visuals are most effective.  Having high-definition AV aids is highly rewarding.

Overall, I recommend that in order for training to be effective, there should be a perfect balance mix of instructional tools.  Lecture type delivery must only cover at the minimum of 20% of the instruction hours.  The rest must be designed to be highly interactive.

CLASS ROOM LESSONS ARE TO BE MADE IN A WAY THAT THE TRAINEES GET THE MATTER OF FACT IN AN EASY WAY . THESE CAN BE MADE POSSIBLE BY DIFFERENT WAY OF PRESENTATIONS MADE . SOME OF THE METHODS ARE  PICTURES , VIDEOS, GAMES , MOTIVATIONAL VIDEOS  ETC.ARE SOME OF IT . INTERACTION WITH BOTH THE PARTIES ALSO GET THE TRAINER TO MAKE SURE HOW MUCH THEY HAVE LEARNED FROM IT .
