Satisfied Customers are the unpaid Advertisement for a company. A Customer with good reputation of our company in his mind can refer to at least 10 future customers , Thus it became a chained process of advertisement which is ever better then $10K.

I agree only if the value of the customer is worth my 10000 bucks, that is, if the customer is spending regularly on my products. Too often there is a misconception about the customer value: retaining dormant customers or those who do business with my brand sporadically is not worth the money. This is where CRM come to play, to retain, nurture and get value out of each customer at very stage of the cycle. Great question!

Customer becomes a customer through advertising. So advertising is necessary to convert those strangers to gain knowledge about your product. You need to measure value of your advertising and it's return on each lead an customer.
