Satisfied Customers are the unpaid Advertisement for a company. A Customer with good reputation of our company in his mind can refer to at least 10 future customers , Thus it became a chained process of advertisement which is ever better then $10K.

I agree only if the value of the customer is worth my 10000 bucks, that is, if the customer is spending regularly on my products. Too often there is a misconception about the customer value: retaining dormant customers or those who do business with my brand sporadically is not worth the money. This is where CRM come to play, to retain, nurture and get value out of each customer at very stage of the cycle. Great question!

satisfied customer these days, may worth more than 10 k $, in case of customer with blogs or social media followers, good feedback and praise can gain a lot of revenue to organization, much more than advertisement.

Customer becomes a customer through advertising. So advertising is necessary to convert those strangers to gain knowledge about your product. You need to measure value of your advertising and it's return on each lead an customer.

Well , Its critical to have a better care of  customer , undoubtedly existing customers retention helps in gaining new customer also.

But advertising is equally important. Its a way of communication to existing as well as potential customer. Advertising helps in  creating brand and customers relate them with that brand , customer feels proud of that brand. Customer associates with brand.

So customer care or advertising both equally important.
