Bismillah hirrahmaan nirrahim. As Salam.

As per any other positions, the job which is suitable for a fresh MIS graduate is very much dependent on the graduates : area of interest and focus in his/her MIS degree, specialised skill sets and industry of interest.

The typical job of a fresh MIS graduate would normally revolve around documenting user requirements and utilisation of modelling tools and methods in designing a system for an organisation, data analysis, some programming (depending on the job role), and systems support.

If the fresh MIS graduates area of interest is in programming or software design and development then it is best to search for relevant positions in a software company or IT advisory/consulting company which would usually have ongoing software development work or specific documentation work eg. IT business case software design proposals.

If the graduates area of interest is in database support and data analytics/data analysis and management reporting they would need to seek out positions in larger organisations which would typically require server/mainframe based systems to maintain large scale database processing for their day to day operational requirements eg. government agencies, banks, oil and gas companies, aviation industry, large retail/FMCG companies to name a few..

However despite the focused area of interest mentioned, it is also good to seek out job roles which would be able to provide clear direct reporting lines to specific supervisor(s) who would be able to provide an all rounded exposure in transferable skills sets such as documentation of the minutes of meetings which tests the graduates verbal & written skills and understanding of the subject matter/projects at hand, organisation of meetings for various stakeholders and some internal cross departments written and verbal communication skills.

That being said, before even applying for a role in a particular company/industry always start with a 'Know thyself discovery journey'. Apart from the specific job scope examples above it is also important to be true to yourself in terms of your social adaptability/preference i.e..

- Do you prefer to be in a coed or specific gender, multiracial/international mix working environment or are you more comfortable socialising with the people from your local country of origin?

- What about specific religious requirements e.g.. prayer rooms and times for Muslims - will this be permitted without any fuss within standard break times ?

- Are you comfortable socialising with people of varied intellectual levels and academic ability or do you have a preference to socialise with people from a certain expected intellectual/academic ability and background?

The above serves as a starting point for reflection before embarking on a fresh graduates job search journey. I sincerely hope that my suggestions will be of help to the current generation of fresh MIS graduates and that you would be able to apply your knowledge as much as you can within your industry of choice, gain professional expertise, fulfilment and have fun as well in each of your own unique journey!!!

 As Salam & Warmest Regards.
