Alternating Current systems are preferred ,it is easy to control AC , they can be stepped up or down using Transformers, while in DC we don't have such option. AC system have less maintenance cost, easy to handle and reliable. DC systems are complex they include invertors.

First, there are less losses, secondly, we face the difficulty of energy transfer, so a lot of money is imposed for transfer

Transmitting electricity over AC links is more efficient, compared to DC transmission, up to a certain distance then DC transmission would be more efficient (hence, HVDC technologies are emerging!)

It is cost efficient. AC plant cost way less than equivalent output on DC.

AC is a better voltage and has better transmission

Ac systems are more flexible and easy to control

AC Preferrd Due to Transmishion less cost

AC transmission is preferred over DC transmission because the power loss is much less as compared to loss in DC.

In direct current DC, the electric charge (current) only flows in one direction. And in alternating current ac current changes direction periodically

It is easy to maintain and change the voltage of AC electricity for transmission and distribution. Plant cost for AC transmission (circuit breakers, transformers etc.) is much lower than the equivalent DC transmission. ... It is easier to convert AC to DC rather than the other way around.

AC can be easily transformed to DC with the help of rectifiers whereas in DC it is not possible. AC can be easily stepped up or stepped down by transformers whereas in DC it is not possible because transformers work on a changing emf principle. Generation of Ac power is cheaper than DC power
