actually that's the best times to invest!  source; ask the rothschild family lol :)

smart investments are those that were groomed during hardships and sustained to expansion, when u invest during crisis you have as double advantages compared to a normal situation;

less competitors to worry about, either  because most went down or they are too scared of risking any further investment. so most investors  that make the bold step end up running a monopolize free market.

Yes, specially in the services industry where operational cost can be low. Best example is Moelis & Co. they started during 2007 crisis as an investment & advisory bank and survived the crash.

yes i do believe there can be opportunities during economic crisis given of course what the crisis might entail.

example: should coal become to costly or rare to mine then you could look into creating a business that uses endless supply of mineral that readily available like hydro electricity using sea water with flow to generate current, wind turbines that use the flow of air to generate electricity. 

There are endless possibilities to counter something terrible with something brilliant all you need is clear vision.

Expansion never meet on the same lane with economic crises unless the you had invented a new relief as a medicine for some pain caused by the crises.

people who take risk during the economic crisis gain opportunities because only few business like to take risk.The few businesses in the market can have the largest market share.
